NYFW: Nanette Lepore and Steven Alan

Nanette Lepore Fall 2013 Collection

Now that New York Fashion week is pretty much over, I went ahead and looked through the rest of the designer's collections  that I haven't seen yet on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week website. There were a lot of really great designs and collections, but   one that stood out the most for me was Nanette Lepore's Fall 2013 collection. The whole collection had a very military meets space kinda vibe, with the olive green pieces and metallic details. Looks like the military trend will still be really big next fall. But I think all the metallic accessories are what drew me into this collection. Especially the first blue metallic bag that came down the runway. I nearly wanted to snatch it right from my computer screen as I watched the video. From this point on, I'm gonna be on the lookout for something similar to it.

Another collection that I enjoyed was Steven Alan's Fall 2013 collection. It was very minimalistic, which is a style I always tell myself that I should try, but never really works out because I somehow always end up going for printed shirts and accessorizing with flashy statement necklaces or jewelry. Maybe one day I'll be able to achieve minimalism. Anyways, I digress. Back to the collection. I loved the neutral palette that was used throughout all of the looks. You can never go wrong with a neutral outfit! What really made me love this collection was how tom-boyish the women's outfits were. I don't think I would ever be able to pull off the tomboy look, but I give props to any girl who can.

Although I only experienced New York Fashion Week through pictures and videos on my computer screen, it's still pretty bittersweet that it's coming to an end. I felt like I was a part of it in some weird way by blogging about it and writing my thoughts and opinions about my favorite collections. (Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way for those of you who didn't attend it either). I hope one day that I'll be able to attend some of the actual shows and really get a feel for the true experience of fashion week because I can just imagine how hectic it gets over there!
